![]() In vanilla wow, I was an active raider and during AQ40/Naxx progression, I purchased flasks for the first time, for between 50g-65g each! But what I am saying is that these egregious numbers that we’re seeing in classic must be reigned in for the health and “funness” of the game itself. Now, I’m not saying that flasks in classic should only run you 10g each, so that they would be comparable to retail. The average price on my retail server for a flask is a mere 1344g, or about 30 times lower than the equivalent price for a flask in wow classic. ![]() That means that a flask that will run you 365g in wow classic, would run you nearly 39,000g in retail! This is just staggering, and everyone reading this should be quite shocked. Meaning that every 1g you own in wow classic is equivalent to 106g in wow retail. The ratio between the two is, at this very moment, approximately 106. One can fairly easily calculate the equivalency between wow classic gold and wow retail gold by figuring out the price per unit if one were to use real money to purchase it (via the wow token in retail and via shady sites in wow classic, never do this in wow classic as its against the TOS). Allow me to contextualize this with retail by just throwing out some current numbers. On my server, right now, Black Lotus are 323g each. In addition to the scarcity of the resource, not having any sort of Unique(#) functionality on this resource has allowed for rampant botting of this rare and valuable resource, making it extremely unlikely the a player running around in the open world will even see a Black Lotus. This is fundamentally poor design as there are only enough of these routinely used resources to accommodate approximately 40% of the server population. ![]() ![]() However, the total amount of Black Lotus spawns on a server in the course of a given week is only around 2,700. Many of the classic servers have raiding populations of between 4,000 and 7,000 players across both Horde and Alliance. Now that we’re well into p6, it has become extremely apparent that the Black Lotus change back in May was simply not enough. ![]()
